Datalagskommittén

Swedish flagPå svenska, tack

The Committee was set up by the Swedish Government. It was commissioned to complete two tasks:

The Committee handed over a report, including recommendations on new and amended legislation, to the Swedish Minister of Justice Mrs. Laila Freivalds on April 2, 1997.
The title of the report is:
INTEGRITY RIGHT-OF-ACCESS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
(SOU 1997:39)

  • English summary of the report

  • The Swedish Government will probably refer the report to several public authorities and private organisations for consideration. The next step for the Government would be to submit a Bill to the Parliament.

The Committee has been comprised of eleven politicians mostly MP:s representing the seven political parties at present in Parliament, chaired by a Supreme Court Judge, Mr Staffan Vängby. The Committee was assisted by an Expert Group, consisting of leading experts in Sweden on the issues at hand and experts representing the interests at stake.
